Year 4: Keep it pushin

Teaching Honors 100

I taught Honors 100 fall quarter of my senior year. This was actually a pretty fun experience for me, and I felt it helped me to grow as a teacher and a leader in the community. I was really lucky to have a social group of students that worked hard to connect with one another and engage with the class as much as anyone really cares to engage with a 1 credit required seminar course. I got some good music recommendations out of them too. The artifact I've included is a link to all my lesson plans.

Pol S 360

Winter quarter of my senior year, I took a class discussing constitutional law from a political science perspective. As I was reading the different cases and trying to learn about them, I realized that I found it pretty interesting. Picking apart the arguments and the rulings wasn't that bad. I know that law school will definitely be different from this one poli sci class, but it was nice to see that cases aren't totally boring to me and it was reassuring as I stressed about my applications and whether or not I'd made the right decision. My artifact is a short case brief I wrote.

Honors 211

This Honors class discussed the appeal of authoritarianism in Ancient Rome, beginning with the origins of the Roman Republic and ending with the rise of Augustus and the beginning of Rome as an autocracy. The final for the class was a podcast assignment on a topic of our choosing, and I really enjoyed making a podcast comparing Mitch McConnell and his form of constitutional hardball to figures in Ancient Rome. This assignment allowed me to pull a lot of different classes and areas of knowledge together, which was a lot of fun.
